If the cage is big enough, it might be the time of day that you are watching your IG. I know that mine has patterns in his active times. Usually in the mornings & evenings he just sits there. After normal leaving times for me he becomes very active. I use a leash on mine only when I take him outside. If I try to restrict his movements (like when it is time to go in), he freaks. I figure that it frightens them to not be able to move freely. Good luck.
