Them ActiveUV bulbs sure do stir up controversary? Ideas?

What are your ideas on these? Some people say dangerous and others say they're great? Do you think the 100 watt flood could be used every other day and be safe?
Was thinking about trying it in moderation, but don't want my reptiles to be guinea pigs, you know?
