Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone had any pertinent info on red mites (Ophionyssus Natricis)? I had an iguana "dumped" on me. It was on my doorstep in a cardboard box. The poor thing is eaten up with mites. I have never had mites on my reptiles and unsure as to the best route to treat for them. He/She is a pitiful ig. All but two spikes appear to have been chewed off by the mites (even the little spikes down the back!). His toes are all swollen and red and pretty much useless. His skin hangs in loose folds all over his body! He has a couple bloody stumps where some toes used to be. The scale on his tail are sticking out like a club tail iguana! Creepy looking on a green ig! His toenails appear to never have been cut. The only positive thing so far is the fact that he eats all by himself, cleans his plate! There is old, crusty, brown shed stuck all over him. He is pitiful! Anyway, I guess most of this is mite-related. He also appears to have a mild case of MBD.
