Eric,

I read your post last night and it sounds to me that your iguana is trying to mate with you, where as mine on the other hand is trying to kill me! LOL Either that or he's real rough in bed!!!
I would suggest you don't take chances with your iguana while this is going on; never let the following items get close to the front of your iguana while he's in this mood: face, fingers, arms and legs. Free roaming a large male in season is (in my opinion)nuts, someone is just asking for trouble.
If it's a love bite, as long as you don't pull your arm away, the bite shouldn't be too bad; but if it's a territorial bite.....look out! Harry is the latter one, he has claimed the house as his domain and we are invading his area. To give you an idea of how dangerous an older iguana's bite is, Harry bit a hole into my set of welding gloves, which we use to handle him to and from the bath tub.
Iguana's have perfect cutting teeth and pulling away while the iguana is clamped down is 10 times as bad. The result will be a very serious open wound and medical attention will probably be needed.
Many people have had their iguanas bite down on their arms and legs, only to mate; while this can freak some people out, if they don't move there's a good chance the iguana will not bite too hard and will let go shortly. In the case of Harry, he's not interested in mating, he's keyed for battle and performs multi croc rolls just after he clamps down on objects. If you could see what he does....a little bit of fear would definitely come to the surface........it does for me.
Any signs of orange in your iguana's legs? If so, he's definitely in mating season and it should pass within a month or so (fingers crossed)
Best wishes,
HD
