NJ iguanas are sold for $6 dollars along the board walk to children like they are easy to care for and good for children. I have chatted on line with many people who did not know what they were buying and freaked out afterwards. Some went down to the store and told them how to care for the iguanas and the store did not want to hear. One person was told that room temperature wasa fine. One person couldn't get it on the airplane so they dumped the container with the iguana in the trash at the airport. ANother was told to feed it cat food. None of these people were told about UVB light. And most of these people were told to feed it lettuce. The Atlantic paper called it "ABUSE" and called for the end of all the boardwalk iguanas. Most of the people asking for the end of this are people who bought iguanas. What does that say?
If you tried selling puppies or kittens on the boarwalk to vacationers at super cheap prices, don't you think the Humame Society would be breathing down your throat?
