Housing a male and female Ig

How well do male and female Ig's co-habitate??
I have a 21 mo. old (female I think) and I wanted
to add a male once the new cage is built. The cage
will be 8ft(l) X 4 ft.(d) X 8ft (h). Just wondering
if the two could happily live in the same cage.
