For what it is worth...I have personal experience of having a male & female iguana. They have separate enclosures. She came to us first as a baby and we'd had her almost a year when we got the male ig. also as a baby. SHE is in charge....just ask her! LOL She tolerates him when they are out together in a large area. But there have been times when she has gone out of her way to just come over and grab him by the neck for no apparent reason! We got our current dog when the igs were not quite 3 & 2 y/o. THEY rule him LOL He's a big German sheperd but when they are out, he slinks past them in hopes that they won't notice him LMAO
So........it may all be a matter of who came in to the family first as to who will be boss.
