Egg Bound

Some 7+ years ago I lost my beautiful iguana Magilla when she became egg bound & couldnt pass them. The vet tried to help her but was unable to save her. Since a long time has passed since I have owned iguanas (couldnt get over losing her to easily...) - I now have a juvenille iguana named Stone. And I am looking to adopt an adult. Can anyone tell me, in these years that have passed, is there a way to prevent iguanas from becoming egg bound? I worry about this happening again. I had Magilla for about 5 years before she died... and she was my best friend.
