Iguanas see quite well, and in color. I am told they have pretty sharp eyesight. As for the biting, perhaps you could compare him to a dog. He probably had an itch and couldn't scratch it any other way. Of course, you could be concerned about mites, but my guess is, he itches a bit from the recent shedding.
