Sore on toe

I have a little ig who now has a little red bump at the first knuckle on top of it's foot. I have been watching it for a few days and it seems to slowly be healing. Should I put some neosporine on it? How do I tell if it's broken? It seems not to be moving very much, (the one toe). Other than that, it is straight.
