This is normal, he is very scared right now and will take awhile to get to know you. It would be a good idea to keep him in a quiet room where he cannot see too much going on for a couple weeks (maybe don't let him look out the window for now). Let him see you a couple times per day for feeding, etc. Be quiet and talk gently to him-- no sudden movements. As time goes on, he will learn to trust you. Gradually increase your interaction times and frequency. It can take quite a long time to totally tame an iguana. Mine took many many months. Put an old tshirt in his cage so he will get used to your scent and then you can wear that shirt when you interact with him and it will have his scent so he will feel safer. There is no real easy quick fix for this except time and patience. Remember too, if he is ill and not feeling well, he may be mean as well. You should start out by taking a fresh stool sample to a vet that specializes in reptiles. When you try to handle him, you may want to use gloves. Once he has become used to his surroundings and you-- do not always back off when he acts like this because this will train him how to easily get rid of you-- he will need to learn that you will only go away after he has behaved properly for a short period. But again, he needs some time to adapt. Iguanas hate change more than anything.
