Hi Sue,

Sorry to hear your Draco isn't doing well. My
first thought at his condition is also renal
failure, but that's because I've had an iguana
with kidney trouble so that's ALWAYS my first
thought. It could, however, be any number of
things.

Is Draco eating at all? While liquid should be
your first priority (remember to warm the water
or Pedialyte mix for best absorption), I think
food is important, too. That's what I found with
my Q anyway.

If Draco won't eat on his own and you think
his system can tolerate food (if he isn't throwing
up or anything and if he seems able to poop), I'd
consider force-feeding him something low in
phosphorus (squash baby food or canned pumpkin
are good).

I'll be the first to admit that I might suggest
force feeding too readily. The reason for this is
my experience with Q. After he was diagnosed
with kidney failure, my Q didn't seem to respond
well to the various meds and treatments. He just
seemed to get weaker and weaker. Our vet all but
gave up on him. Finally, sort of as a last ditch
effort, I added a rather aggressive force-feeding
regimen. And THAT made all the difference for him.

Of course, I'm not a vet and I don't know much
about your Draco's situation, but I did want to
offer this possibility. We'll know more once
you get the bloodwork back. If it's renal failure,
I have lots of experience there and will offer any
advice I can.

Thinking good thoughts....

T&Q
