As many of you know, we have three igs: Joey, Jackie and Jeri. Plus Sydney the Sav, a new little hatchling garter snake ( just caught him 2 weeks ago and he is doing great-keep eating all the minnows I get for him ) and ( don't tell my roommate-alias ex-girlfriend )I am getting a Golden Tegu.
Anyway, Jackie has not been eating for about 2 days. He keeps going to the bottom of his enclosure and hiding out, or, stays in his swimming area until he is really cold. He is also losing weight, or at least staying kinda skinny.
Jackie has always been a problem child. First: going nuts after about 3 minutes-thereby slicing up any skin nearby, Second: breaking his own tail ( which is growing back ), Third: whenever he is let out, he makes a run for it and goes nuts or hides in the most difficult place imaginable to get him out.
I am going to get a fecal( if at all possible ) tomorrow and take it to the vet for analysis. If it is negative, I will take him in for blood too. I sure hope that it isn't kidneys.
I am kinda stumped. After spending thousands of dollars on rain-forest enclosures with automated heat and light controls, waterfalls and humidity controls, optimal diet with calcium supplements, so forth and so on ( please don't lecture me on enclosures and diet - thank you ) --- I really don't have a clue. It could be a re-occurance of parasites, but I don't know where they could have come from.
So, I thought I would let you know. Anything creative would be appreciated. Thanks.
