Age & Shedding?

Hi Everyone - I have a couple of questions to ask about new baby Merlin. OK, I lied, I have alot a questions.

1) If Merlin is about 3 1/2" from snout to vent and 13 1/2" total. About what age would you think he is? Assuming that he is good shape, which he seems to be.

2) What does shedding actually look like in the beginning? Merlin was totally emerald green when we brought him home. He basically still is over 97% of body. However, he has developed a little brown ring behind his front legs going up to his little spikes on both sides. I checked him this morning and he is now got the same light brown ring pattern appearing on his neck. Ever other one of his spikes is this light brown or rust color. I have seen a little bit of loose skin about the neck and I assume he is shedding. Just want to be sure. All other habits are the same. He's eating, swimming, basking, and very active. If he is shedding, does he need more, less, or the same amount of moisture? We have started misting him a little more and letting him soak in the tub daily.

3) We bought Merlin a basking log made out of catus, (spelling). You know, the plant in the desert. He seems to love it. Give him a good foot, not that he needs it with those wrap around toes. Anyway, are these good for ig's?

You might have noticed that I snuck in a 3rd question when the subject was only indicating 2.

Thanks in advance for the help - Joan
