Both my igs were free roamers....when I caged them....wow....what monsters they turned out to be. They absolutely hated it at first, rostral abrasions, tore their claws out with acrobatics from their basking branches, coated wire doors..., digging, scratching away, trying to get out fighting with me refusing to go in their cages...what a hassle! Now they walk into their enclosures at the end of the day...from being outside and actually seem to like their designated space. Sometimes I'll leave the cages open and they won't come out at all! So I get them and MAKE them go outside...lolol If your caging this free roamer....expect a couplea weeks of total iguana angst/antics!
