I would say that 90% of the time they are within earshot of the house and just sitting at the top of a tree. When they get out they usually head straight up the nearest tree and stay there a while. Look very carefully, they are very cryptic, and even a fairly large Ig can be hard to spot in a tree full of leaves. Pay particular attention to yards near by that have vegetable gardens. If they find a good basking tree and a nice garden, they'll stay right there.
