Well I don't think eating his shed is going to hurt him but you could try to remove the shed if you see it so he won't eat it. Your ig sounds like my last ig, Salvador, who would eat anything not tied down-- edible or not.

As far as the feeding-- I read somewhere you shouldn't leave the food in there to spoil, but I have not seen any problems with this and leave mine in there from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm-- and he munches throughout the day, but is usually finished with all of it not long after lunchtime. Then I clean his dish when I get home and give him fresh food after his bath/potty break-- and he eats some of that around 6pm. My food is not in the direct sun or under the lamps. It is fresh from the start and does wilt towards the end of the day. I really would have no other way to feed him since I am not home during the weekdays and he likes to snack more than once per day. Your ig could use another feeding when you get home probably, although he may not eat as much then.
