Hey there! My Stevie never had spikes (I got him at a year old). Only when he turned about 7 years old one popped through and it was his sole spike. I never found out a reason why he didn't have any, but it didn't seem to effect his health. I imagine he also had a rough life before I got him because he was blind when I adopted him, but he looked kinda cute without the spikes. HTH!
