His spines will not regrow once they are totally broken off-- the ends may grow a little but they will not regenerate like the tail can.

I am glad the ig found someone who cares :-) As far as the lethargy-- are you sure your vet is very knowlegeable about reptiles-- sometimes good reptile vets are hard to find and he may have missed something. Did you have a stool sample or bloodwork done? He could have parasites or MBD if he was not cared for properly before. You want to make sure he gets calcium rich veggies like fresh collard greens, mustard greens, supplemented with escarole, watercress, dandelion, squashes, sweet potatoes, a few blueberries or melon for a treat. He needs direct unfiltered sunlight (the best) or many people use UVB light in their cages along with the heat lamps. I will post a link with a lot of good info-- essential to every ig owner.

: Greetings from Norway
: I just bought my first Iguana. He is 2 years old, and the jerk who used to care for him neglected him a bit.
: He is about 80 cm long and a bit slim. The problem is that he only got 5 spikes on his head/neck and none along his body. Will they regrow now that he is cared for more properly?
: I also had a Vet amputate a bit of his tail (necroc) and he is now taking penicilin. He has become very lazy since his operation/penicilin taking. This is normal right?
