Oral Syringe-Feeding

Hi, I have had to feed my Ig with a 12cc oral syringe due to the kidney failure. When feeding liquids such as water or pedialyte, I try and do a little at a time and stop after 1 syringeful. Problem is sometimes he sneezes it right out...or sometimes for a while after I am done, he will do open-mouth hiss-breathing every once in a while. Vet says I may be doing something wrong that is causing it to go down the windpipe to the lungs. Is there a specific way I am supposed to be doing this. I feel bad causing anymore discomfort to him! Thanks!
Lisa
