Don't worry about your iguana freaking out when you come near it. Iguanas don't speak english, they don't know that you're not going to make a meal out of it! If your iguana is pooping, then it's probably acclimating to its new home jest fine.
Be sure to supervise the care of this pet if it's for your son. You'll probably be surprised how much harder it is to take care of these animals than the pet store advertised it to be.
