After taking a fresh stool sample to the vet, I was shown the slide under the microscope-- my vet said he has a high count of Giardia-- and put him on metronidazole for 5 days. He said I might as well treat the beardie too. (I can't get a fresh stool sample from Flapjack to him)
Well both are acting fine and active so I wouldn't have guessed except Sleestack's poop has been a little runnier than normal for a week and I decided not to take any chances.
Medicating them is no fun as others know-- especially now that I have to do it all myself (hubbie is going out of town today). I was sick of struggling with Slee so took the easy route the 2nd day-- injected hollowed out blueberries (about 4) with the medication and he readily takes his medicine now! Flapjack on the otherhand, is a pain-- can barely pry his mouth open and he struggles and shows more attitude at this than any other time. Thank goodness it is only 5 days!
Sleestack isn't sneezing as much salt out-- although there is still some. I've put him back to his very warm temps since he is fighting something. (I had brought the temps down for a few days to see if that would alleviate some of the sneezing)
The vet said this was one thing that could be passed to humans but he said I shouldn't worry too much.
3 more days of medication and can't wait until it's over!!!!!
