Guess I wasn't really as clear as I should have been with that message! We don't leave them outside for long periods & they aren't left unattended. They have their own tree that they climb up in & bask and one of us or one of the kids sits out there while they bask. When they get hot they climb down out of the tree & can take a dip in the water set up just for them & go back in the tree.....but usually they go on up to the back door & wait to be let in by a human. If it is a high 90's to 100+ day, we will turn on the water sprinkler so that it hits part of the tree (gently) & they can move back & forth as they wish.
And you are 100% correct about needing shade & watching. Sorry I wasn't clear & glad you made the point!
