but its been done and guess what... no harm to iglet!!.....Relax... make sure you read the sentence I posted in its entirety. Adult iguanas in the wild have been observed eating carrion, marine iguanas have been documented to eat carcasses of their own in times of adverse conditions! Do NOT believe everything Malicious Kaplan says at her site like GGIs are herbivorous from day one ....a total assumption! Many things she posts is to create fear, hope, evoke an emotion... not open discussion, and certainly not research....she is merely repeating certain references, picking and choosing which ones suits her agenda ,ignoring all pertinant scientific based info.... and presenting her truths as FACT. The truth is MORE important than facts! It is true that iglets in the wild prior to taking their spot amongst the big boys & girls in trees...are land dwellers...living in low lying bushes until they reach maturity and are able to join the group...up above in the trees, if they were to do this as juvies they would most definately be chased off or attacked, eaten by dominate males, viewed as interlopers.
There are NUMEROUS references that this is reported....I am too tired to search my many bookmarks and post them up now I will try & e-mail you the links as well as where to order a few books like Maders, Hatfields, so you can read em for yourself and develop your own truths. I won't bother posting them here because I don't wanna bore anyone......when I usually post something like:

: ""As iglets in the wild they are much more opportunistic than when they mature....eating bugs, eggs, vegetation.""

Its because Ive read and read and read....material, scientific and anecdotal reports on the net & in text.... similarities & differences, & conclude this statement is closer to the TRUTH than what you would read at someone's website. Notice that I am NOT saying its ok to feed bugs, eggs, and vegetation to captive iglets. Im against feeding animal protein to iguanas ....yes even yogurt!
MK talks mentions necropsy reports....that's all! She has never posted the research study she is talking about so others can draw their own conclusions, she has never said what area of iguanas this study included ,what type of iguana, how diverse a population, area , nor what ages the iguanas are that were necropsied. You are asked to believe what she says because of what she says. She uses this info to instill fear and validate herself. She is not a well person ....well people do not get CFS,MCS,and FM.

: Where do you get your information that baby igs eat animal protein?

Check out any of the iguana farm websites and read what they feed farm raised iguanas/iglets in preparation for import or market.

If you are relying on info from others to point you to certain TRUTHS I think you are going to be very dissapointed! I post what I want, share what *I know* to be *my* truth,You could say Im doing exactly as Malicious is doing....BUT I don't have a website, or a book out, nothing for you to buy, anything to prove to anybody. What I have learned about ggis I researched on my own. You don't accept my opinion as truth ...oh well...please Im open to hearing anything you have researched on the matter, but please forgive me if I do not respond, choose to debate or challenge it. Rethink, Research, Rethink some more. Im tired and boring myself now.
I'll e-mail ya when Im not so cranky and have gotten some sleep so I don't bore you too with my rambling! ok! This has been another bad week for me...2 more nurses died at the hospital I work at...one was my supervisor for 7 years on the research unit I worked at. She had a massive stroke at work Sat. nite! and died yesterday!.....Im very upset....my apologies for being a big b!
Gina
