We all know the frustration and anger we feel when we encounter these people in "pet" $tores, be it owners/workers/customers, and often find ourselves thinking "what's the use?" Then every once in a while, albeit a great while, there is a person we think we might have gotten thru to, and for me, that's a reminder of "the use" and my motivation to continue. It's worth it to get thru to one person than not to bother and therefore get thru to none at all.

Usually I'm not lucky enough to be at the $tore when the igs are actually sold or when people are giving away the ones they no longer want. But when I was there last night, there was a teenage girl with (I ‘spose) her mother, buying an ig and the "lizard set-up," you know, the 10-gallon tank w/all the trimmings (except the lid, which is sold separately of course). Upon finding that they knew *nothing* about igs, I started on my education speech and they seemed sincerely interested. However, it was clear that I was not going to attain my goal of talking them out of buying it until they did a little research of their own. When the mom asked her daughter "where will we get food for now," I quickly seized the opportunity. I got them to agree to wait while I went home, I live w/in 2 blocks, to give them some of my already prepared food. Not only were they still waiting when I got back, they seemed very happy that I also brought a bunch of reading materials, which is lots of stuff I printed from MK's site.

I really felt that this little guy might have a chance after all. Maybe not, who knows? But at least there seemed to be true hope, and sometimes that's the best we can do.
