Depends where you live...I live in S. Cali...my igs are outside ALOT almost everyday...except inclement weather. If you live in an area where you can get your igs outside alot even into the fall months for maybe 8 hours a week...you would NOT need a uvb light at ALL even through winter! The Vitamin D their skin makes from the sun for calcium metabolism is fat soluble. It is stored! will be enough to make it thru the winter and not develop MBD. Sunlight is way more beneficial for them than uvb artificial tubes...but if you live in an area where it is cold, lots of cloud cover and ig won't be able to get outside much each week...then for precautionary reasons I'd run your uvb flourescent tubes all winter long. The tubes they sell like Vita-lite, Repti-Sun 5% & ESU 7% are all acceptable lamps get em online at herp suppliers or lighting specialty stores (may have to order em) for cheaper than what pet stores sell em for.
