I have just purchased 2 new Iguanas and I have been surfing for
days gathering as much information as I can in order to insure a
happy, healthy Ig. I have visited almost every link I can find
(including the ones mentioned in this forum) and feel that I am
at least adequately prepared for being owned by an Iguana. One
concern I have has to do with UVB light. I live in Ohio so we
have summer months when the temps are warm enough to let them
outside so they are currently getting plenty of UVB from that
(I've read that 8 hours in natural sunlight is equal to
approximately 320 hours of exposure to a 3% UVB light).
My concern is with the colder/winter months when I can't expose
them to direct sunlight without exposure to low temps also and
whether a good full spectrum light is going to expose them to
sufficient UVB. Do I need to worry about the onset of MBD in
the winter? Is a fullspectrum light enough UVB over the colder
months (probably 7 or 8 month a year)?
