: I recently purchased an ignuana/aquarium/etc and have a few questions about it. I have had my iguana for 3 days and a friend has had his for about 4. His Iguana will always run away from being touched or try to scamper away when it's out of it's cage but mine seems very docile..It will climb on my arm and just sit there and it doesn't seem to bother it when I pick it up. Is this just a stage it's going through for a little while and it'll end up running away before I train it or did I just get lucky? Also is it ok to run a sink full of water and let it swim around in it to clean it off? How long should I expect to have to wait before my iguana can be let loose without trying to hide? Oh and both iguanas are very young, probably a littles less than a foot from head to tip of tail. Thanks for any answers.

hi yes you can put warm water in your bathtub about 1/2 way up of the iguanas body at first they are scared so watcth him it takes awhile for them to get use to this water. aso the warm water makes them poop in the bathtub take him out put him back in his cage then disinfect and clean the tub with bleach and water then rinse tub clean always wash your hands good after touching or cleaning him and cage reptiles carry salmonella. also try not to over do it with handling him give him time to get use to his new cage.also you should take a sample of his poop to a vet for a fecal test . a fecal test checks his poop for worms parasites bugs and salmonella its not that much money.whatever you do please buy a good iguana book or a iguana video. go to www.bigappleherp.com or www.herpsupplies.com they have good books and videos good luck mike
