I know when we humans get bit badly by an ig we are to tell the dr. that they carry gram-negative bacteria in their mouths. This is told because a different type of antibiotic would be used on us vs. treating for bacteria that are gram-positive. (I have no REAL idea what that really means; I just know that's what we are to say *grin*)

What I also don't know is whether neo-sporin is good on an iguana bite versus a simple boo-boo received from something/someone other than a fellow-iguana.

If you are willing to give it a couple of more days, you could call your local pharmacist and ask if there's something over-the-counter that would treat gram-negative. If there is, then use it for 48 hours and see if there's any improvement.

Otherwise, your best bet (as usual) is to contact your herp vet for advice. They may be willing to sell you the correct ointment without having to haul the iguana in for a visit.

Umm, one other thing. If you see any pinkish spots on the scales in the area, this can be a sign of toxicity and a vet will have to be involved.

Hope it all goes well!
