THat's hard to say whether it is luck or he knew that was home and wanted back in! Either way, it's all good! And you are lucky. I had a hamster as a child that escaped for 1 week and my mom told me she was most certainly gone forever. However, she came back and scratched on the sliding glass door to be let back in the following week. My mom heard the scratching and let her right in! So anything is possible, but I hate to say I think rodents are smarter than igs (though I lovem so!) That was the best hamster ever by the way!
