I have had both and both have their different problems. Boys can get agressive during breading season. I had my male since he was very little. I learned to watch is signs and was lucky in the fact that the didn't turn out to be a huge monster. He would still bite but he at least warned you first. I have also watched a female for a couple of years. She can be almost be more of a pain the a male when she is getting ready to lay eggs. She digs at everything, stops eating, and has accidents all over the place. Don't get me wrong. I love them both dearly. They just have different things to watch for and deal with. Good luck
