question about mineral oil

I've seen several posts here advising people to give their igs mineral oil...I know with dogs and cats, my veterinarian was told *never* to give min. oil because they can't taste/smell it and they will continue to breathe while it is being placed in their mouth..this means some of the mineral oil goes into their *lungs* which can be deadly... In fact, we saw a case of this in the clinic where I work just two days ago. Is there no danger of this with igs?
