I have a female (not positive but pretty sure) iguana that is somewhere around 18 months old. She is about 3 feet long from snout to end of tail. She is very healthy and eats GREAT!!! When i got her I built her a custom cage and wanted to get her in it as soon as possible. She was probably about 30 inches long and was being kept temporaily in an aquariam that was 20 gallons long... Since i was in a rush i ended up putting her in her unfinished cage and she LOVED it. She never really came out of it or if she did would just crawl up on top and lay on the roof. So...i put off finishing her cage...i never closed off the roof and left it open, IN FACT SHE LEARNED TO POOP FROM OFF THE ROOF OF HER CAGE AND INTO A BUCKET OF WATER ON HER OWN AFTER A SINGLE ACCIDENT>>>JUST ONE. SHE TOUGHT HERSELF HOW TO POOP!!! Now after about 6 months of succesfull pooping and the both of us being happy she has turned on me. She wanders off of her cage and onto my bed when I leave the house. She's pooped on my pillow, my chair, and now it is customary for her to poop right behind my bed in a cabinet that i am using as a headboard for my bed.
For example, today i woke up at 11. I have her on a timer to turn the irridecant light on at 10, so she was up for an hour before me. I went to take a shower and by the time i got back she had taken her dump in my cabinet right were i was just 20 minutes beforehand. Its almost as if she is mad at me...
For awhile I thought it was because I wasn't keeping her on a regular feeding schedule. I'd go a day before giving her FRESH greens...but not anymore. I feed her fresh collards and kale everyday but not always at the same time.
Now that I am on summer vacation I am not around as much so it is hard to keep her on a regular schedule. Any comments ??or advice?? I am going to close her cage and keep her locked in it for awhile and see if she returns to pooping in her tub.
