I saw the post from Ara re the ig with the dead looking tail tip. I thought of posting because our female's was like that when we brought her home 4 years ago. I decided not to because I had nothing to add except that hers still looked like that despite misting it daily (well we tried to do it daily).
(Anyone ahead of me yet in this story? LOL) Today we noticed that lo and behold the tip of her tail had fallen off!
She's had a rough time. Near the end of her gravid period she was only eating & drinking enough to survive. Then she had the prolapse & had to be spayed. During her 5 day stay at the vet's she really didn't eat for them. A female already looks bad right after they lay their eggs; Lightning looked truly pitiful! She's back to eating her normal amount & gaining her weight back altho slowly. We feel sure that all of this contributed to the final demise of the tail tip.
My question (finally!) is whether we should do anything. So far I soaked the tip while hubby held her. Then I put some Repto-Heal on it. I plan on repeating this procedure. We debated putting an antibiotic ointment on it but decided that we'd try this method first since it worked well on the male ig when he had a different boo-boo.
Any ideas, suggestions will be appreciated!
