I understand where you're coming from..I learn new things every day about iguana care. On the internet, it's hard to believe everything you read because there's so much crap out there you have to be skeptical. Here's the way I do it: every event taught in history is usually proven three times. If there are at least three sources to back up one claim, then you can usually take that to be true. If you only hear it once from one source, generally it is speculative. This forum is very good at giving advice, and usually each recmmondation is backed up by following posts. Keep up with the forum and you'll be fine. A little scientific research doesn't hurt either. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do just fine, just pay attention to the response your iguana gives you to whatever you do to or for it. Every oguana is different and may prefer different foods, light, environment, etc. Good luck!

I appreciate everyone's advice I have gotten on how to care for iguanas. But now I am more confused than ever! Things I have read in books, on the internet, and on this forum all contradict each other. For example, I hear alfalpha pellets are bad for iguanas, but on some Iguana Salad recipe I found on the internet it says to use the pellets. Some people say antibiotics are bad, some say they are good. Some say total access to the house for the iguana is fine, some say it is dangerous. Some say they can be potty trained, some say they can't. Some say vitamins are needed, some say vitamins aren't necessary. And on and on....
: I read and reread things and I think, "okay, this is the right way to do it for my iguana." Then I'll find some new piece of information that tells me what I am doing is probably hurting my iguana!
: Someone posted that there is not a lot of information on how to care for iguanas like there is for cats and dogs, and that is why there are so many conflicting opinions. But it just gets so frustrating because I don't know when I am helping my iguana or hurting my iguana!
: Anyone feel the same way?
