I would think that the uvb your ig would benefit from would be below the recommended minimum of 5% emitted by the lamp. Instead of having a 5% emitting lamp you'd have maybe a 4% lamp because of the blocked wavelengths. If you take a look at the ESU 7% desert lights..they are reflectorized (tape coating) so that uvb is not lost at the top (where the lamp sits along hood) as is common with non-reflectorized lamps. If your ig is also getting exposure to natural unfiltered sunlight. I doubt that you would have a problem using your set-up as is.
RE: ANTZ>.....get a large saucepan/tea kettle of water on the stove...bring to boil. Follow the trail of antz where they come into the house...and subsequently the enclosure. Chaulk up any holes where they have entrance into the house...check along cable lines, sinks drains, holes in wall etc. Then go outside and follow the trail of antz to their mound. Once located...take the boiling water and pour down the center of the mound. DEAD ANTZ! Sprinkle some diazonon granules around the exterior base of the house. Better that any pesticides be left outside vs. inside! If the antz are under your house...then ya REALLY got problems! Just hose off your substrate, branches to remove any ants on them , air dry and return them..no need to disinfect.
Gina (just my opinion ....if it isn't mine then who's is it!)
