I think the posts you are referring to are for the Active UVHeat lamps that are a fairly new product. They are a screw in type bulb that are reputed to shed heat and UVB, in large amounts. A fluorescent reptile UVB lamp, such as Reptisun or IguanaLight should be left on for 8-12 hours a day. These fluor. bulbs produce little or no heat.
