i sometimes have people asking me q's about proper lighting for their igs.
And sometimes, these people seem to confuse igs for dipsosauruses!
They put 'super-drooper' UV's, & 'super-drooper' spot lights,
to keep the place warm and nice.
Though their intentions are noble, they sometimes forget one part of the iguana:
the PARIETAL EYE!
In Sprackland's Giant Lizard there is a pic of an iguana with severely damaged eyes due to over-lighting.
So what is to be done?
Here's my Q (at last!):
Have you ever seen those "pink" bulbs, that are supposed to produce a more soothing light to the eye?
Could those be used for an iguana's enlosure?
In case there are no such bulbs for basking lights, a friend of mine gave me this idea:
to make many dots using a multi-purpose heavy-duty RED marker, on the bulb of the basking light, to lower the white glare, and produce a more soothing "pinkish" light.
What do you think? Is it applicable?
Thank in advance!
I J
