Have you checked temps?

Need to get a measurement if you haven't already of how hot it is under the light at the distance he is and then check other areas. Is this being used in a large enclosure or what? He may have gotten TOO hot during the day and went to the bottom seeking a cool spot?

I'm not positive but I believe this UVHeat light is not to be used for hours at a time in a small space AND it may need to be diffused instead of like a "spot" shining down on the reptile.

Hoping others will have experience on this and can help you more!
