i agree with your reasoning (about holding Gilbert, etc) ... that's what i did with iZ and it's worked out pretty good .... ('cept during mating season and then all bets are off!)

oh i laughed soooo hard at your question about speed of growth!!!!!! boy do i know that feeling!!!!! iZ was 1 1/2 yo when he moved in with me, but very sick and scrawny .... so as his medicines and healthy diet started to work, he started to eat more, grow faster, and shed constantly it seemed like!!! he has SEEMED to have slowed down now that's he's 3 yo ..... and YES ... he got his OWN room a few months ago!!!!! (i'm jealous .... i'm way older than him, but my husband won't let ME have my own room! LOL)
so let's see ... how long before he's Godzilla size????? maybe a year ..... ?????
when iZ was ~1 1/2 yo, he weighed LESS than a pound, and was 10" (snout to vent) and 30" (nose to tail)
he's now ~3 yo, weighs approx. SIX pounds, is 18" (snout to vent) and 4 1/2 feet nose to tail .....

that's my boy!!!!!!
