Good point. I shop at our local little store too. Guess what brought me back? The owner CARES about his pets. While they are in his store - they are his pets. While he may not know all there is to know about iguana care (I'm getting dizzy from all those IML percentages!), he has igs of his own and realizes the care they require. He keeps himself updated on the care of all the animals he sells, and the only lizards he sells are bearded dragons and the odd chameleon. The chameleons are cared for expertly, and set up with proper lights, heat, humidity etc. so that prospective owners can see what is required at the outset. And best yet - he won't sell iguanas. He will sell the odd large, well cared for rescued ig if it is a choice between that or euthanasia, and checks out the knew home. He gets about ten calls a week from people wanting to dump their igs - and he just refuses to contribute to the problem by purchasing cute little babies from breeders for resale. Isn't he a gem????? And as such a caring business owner - his business is thriving. In fact - he often ig-sits for people!
(If you ever get over here Sean - I'm talking about you!!)
