Female that I think is a male

I thought all along that my iggie was a female. But last night when I put him back in his cage he was bobbing his head up and down plus the fact that he has become very nasty the last week or so plus he always tries to get out of his cage. Any suggestions on how I should handle him - should I just leave him in his cage until this passes?
