food for thought hmmm? *grin*
certainly something to think about and research ... i, for one, swear by vit. c for preventing colds *and* for getting rid of them faster ... the thing you're gonna run into is, there's little if any scientific proof (or dis-proof) for most of it ... + i believe science *has* studied vit c and have dismissed it as having no effect on the human immune system ... MSM is also s'posed to help the immune system ... it's one of the chemicals in garlic ( ! )
then ... basically i think we get into another whole can of proverbial worms ... those who believe in holistic/herbal/alternate medicine and those who don't ... those of us who do believe can't really back up our statements with *scientific* research + studies (yet!) ... alot of the things i use in *my* health are poo-poohed by the powers that be, *but* have been 'folk-remedies' in Europe for 100's of years (like Evening Primrose Oil for pre-menopausal symtoms!) ... Chinese medicine relies heavily on herbs + "non-traditional" types of things, their knowledge is *1000's* of years more than ours ... so who's right??? depends on who you ask ...
ok ~ *then* comes the question of "if it works for humans, will it work for reptiles?" ... again, i think it's gonna depend on who you ask ...
right now, iZ gets extra vit c (compared to most igs) cuz he likes oranges so much (+ i believe they're what ended the 'chunks of plaster' in his urates) and he gets MSM (garlic) ... so we'll see ...
personally, i think all those great-great-great grandmas knew alot more about herbs + healing than the scientists + drug companies want to admit ...
very interesting thread!!!
