My guess is since this is a light for fish that it is not putting out what your ig needs. You need to get the lights made specifically for reptiles. And these will keep on "lighting" long after their beneficial UV quality wears out so you will need to switch out. However, if your ig can get outdoors in the sun for several days out of the week for as little as 20 minutes each time then you don't have to worry about the UV light system.
