In Reply to: Reptarium for Iguana? posted by Rob Jenkins on May 22, 2000 at 22:18:11:
: Would the larger sizes of Reptarium be alright for iguanas? I just got (rescued) a younger ig that measures about 6" SVL. I was looking at the two largest Reptariums, 175gal and 260gal, I think. Thanks for any insight.
That would be ok for a little while. The smallest cage to keep an iguana in should be--
2X its height, 2X the length, 2/3 width, saying a full-grown iguana is 4-5ft--the cage should at smallest
8ft high, 8ft long, 3-4ft wide! The iguana should still be let out regularly to run around. If you plan on keeping him
long term I would suggest looking into building a large enclosure or a lot of people give them an entire room to stay in.
The bigger the better. Just make sure you feed a good diet of greens, provide adequate heat and humidity and provide plenty of UVB.
Hope this helps and good luck on your new IG.
