oh Toni! i've been there, having trying to figure out if it's worse to put iZ thru the stress of getting meds into him, or worse to go without ... *heavy sigh*

iZ is uncommonly good at taking meds (usually, and if it's in 1-2cc amts) ... what i do is have 2 syringes ready, one with the med, one filled with plain warm water ... (+ he knows the words "drink" and "medicine") ... i let him smell the medicine one, so he knows what's comin' ... and i've learned that it helps *alot* to *not* let them stick their nose in the air when you squirt stuff into their mouth! i think it hits their throat + is a scary 'drowning' feeling (cuz face it, they're not sure *how much* is coming in!) ...

i get into some interesting positions givin' iZ his meds! i've got him wrapped in a towel on my lap, my left hand on his lower jaw, syringe in my right hand and my chin on top of his head to try + keep his head at least level with the floor! (nose pointed slightly downward is even better) ...

anyway ... i let him smell the awful medicine, i *tell* him it's medicine, and put it in his mouth (one quick squirt!)... as soon as the medicine is in, i start repeating *DRINK* *drink* *drink*, drop the med syringe and grab the water and squirt into his mouth ... lots of *small* squirts, without worrying so much if it's gonna run out or if his head is tipped up or down ... i'm just trying to get the water on his tongue to wash the med taste away ... he's learned over time, that i won't let the yechy taste last very long and that has helped us alot!

there is one med he *refuses* to take any more and that's Amphojel ... probably cuz it's 4cc 2x a day and it's too much to put up with! i had to give up on the liquid form and find a solild form that i could hide in his oranges (his *favorite!*)...

since Skunka isn't eating, that'll be even trickier for you ... is there maybe a solid form of calcium that you could use + then hide it in a piece of fruit and pop the fruit into her mouth??? i'm thinkin' fruit cuz it's more slippery than bread + might slide down easier ...

i'd do the same with the Baytril, hide it in fruit and pop it in ...

or maybe instead of solid fruit, some baby food??? hide the pill in a little spoonful of that? (iZ has his own spoon, one of those rubber tipped infant spoons so he doesn't break a tooth if he chomps down)

with either liquids, or semi-liquids like baby food, kinda aim for the center of her mouth ... not the back of her throat and not the tip of her tongue ... she's not gonna lap it up obviously (+ who can blame her!?) ... if you hit the center of her mouth/tongue, there's a little better chance it'll stay in ...

and! like BabyHerp suggested ... maybe one of those 'pill-pushers' would be the answer? just pop the pill right down her throat like you would with cats/dogs??? (followed by a drink o' water)
