you're right ~ there are *no* stupid questions! *grin*

a pet carrier is probably your best bet ... put a bathtowel inside for your iggy and throw a another bath towel or blankie over the top of the carrier (to prevent chills/drafts and the darkness may help keep him a bit calmer)

iZ is 5' long and actually fits fairly comfortably in a 24" x 18" x 18" carrier ... (that's the biggest that'll fit in our car) ... no, it's not ideal by any means, but certainly not harmful for short amounts of time ... iZ just curls up and snoozes and isn't po'd at me when we get there ...

i know some peeps have igs that are calm enough to ride 'unrestrained' in a car ... personally, i'd just hate to risk it (especially if you're traveling alone), just cuz there's always the chance of something startling them + freakin' 'em out ... plus, the mom in me wants him safe in an enclosure in case of the worst and we have an accident, iZ would not get lost in the wilds of Iowa ...

good luck at the vet! (got some fresh poopy to take along to check for parasites right???)
