iZ's room runs at 60-80% humidity in the winter + 80-100% in the iowa summers ... we haven't had any probs with mold/mildew/etc ... (and ... i am *not* a very good housekeeper, so it's not like i'm disinfecting with bleach water + preventing probs that way! *grin*) ... unless you've got a really tightly sealed enclosure, you're prob'ly never gonna get it *too* humid ... as far as what to aim for? as high as possible without getting moldy! (how's that for a non-answer!?!)

those steam vaporizers have *always* scared the heck out of me ...in my mind, the risk of injury to humon, child or pet just really outweighs their possible benefits, especially since they've got the cool-mist ones on the market now ... but then, you know i'm an over-worrier right? oh ... and there's a difference between the cool-mist ones and a humidifier! the one i have doesn't have a 'wick' that the water evaporates from, it just spews cool mist directly into the air ... *kewl*
