Ouch!...If he tries it again punch him!
No j/k.....think it just don't do it! If your movin slowly to pick him up and he's backing away...leave him alone...he's tryin to tell ya something. There are so many times I just HAVE TO pick up one of my igs, or other lizards I give them no choice to do what is normal for them....."lay around and watch for predators".....I intrude on them ....then wonder why my arms look the way they do, some of my nicer blouses are shredded & torn and have ended up in the trash...I don't know how long you have had him be patient and let him be an ig....suggest wearing gloves in the interim just in case...may be coming into sexual maturity...and testing the waters. Is he caged or free roamer? I'd let him free roam...(after he's poopied of course) then begin practicing by getting to his cage w/ guidance every day. Patience...lots & lots of patience!
If he's bitten you and hanging on....a dropper full of HARD ETOH at the back of his mouth is a good way to get him to release.
Once bitten....clean area with warm soap and water real well...look for shed teeth lost in any open cut.....betadine then anti-biotic ointment...and expect a while to heal!Should be able to tell soon...looking at the femoral pores if male or female...
Here's a link to help ya out w/ gender and breeding season aggression and stuff!
