Sounds like "baby" is going through a little adolescent behavior. Aw, teenagers. He may be just testing you. When Sneakers bit me at about the same age, I just took him out held him, petted him, touched his toes, touched his tail, and gave him plenty of what he didn't want...me. LOL. If I remember right his bad behavior didn't last long after he figured out that if he bit, tail whipped, or other agressive movements got him a petting session.
This is assuming that your ig is in good health and feeling well. If he has been under the weather he may be hurting and doesn't want you to touch him. If that is the case by no means put him through a handling session.
Also I wouldn't use this technique on older larger igs. You mentioned that yours was a yr old. A person could get hurt forcing there unwanted attentions on a 5-6 foot ig. The idea is to buffalo him in to believing that nothing he does has any effect on you while he's young.
